The Next Generation of Entrepreneur

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honourable, to be compassionate; to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Being successful in business is one thing. To serve a higher purpose and live a truly successful life is another.

Many of us are brought up with the notion that “money is the root of all evil” or that being wealthy is synonymous with greed. But now, times are a-changing. People now see the value in living a rich and full life helping others, rather than promoting and rising in the business world at the expense of others. Having money is no longer just for harsh CEO’s of massive multi-national companies that people associate with greed. A new generation of entrepreneur is exploding – one that uses their financial and time freedom to GIVE BACK.

The most exciting thing about being an entrepreneur in the 21st century is that success in business and living a full life now go hand-in-hand. The more you serve others; whether it be improving their life with a product, helping them achieve their business goals or personal growth goals, the more successful and meaningful your journey becomes.

When you have a higher mission that involves others rather just your own successes, people are drawn to you. If you’d like to make an impact an issue like hunger, poverty, health on a global scale – right now, starting your business that may seem light years away. But there are small steps you can take at the beginning of your journey that are in-line with your higher purpose and will help you achieve the influence you need to make a positive impact and carry out your higher mission.

  • Be happy and fun in your mission. To begin, your immediate goal will be to promote in the company; to expand your network and increase your client base. Achieving these smaller goals will give you the groundwork to move further. Start by giving the most exceptional service to your clients, always.
  • Be influential. Influence is how you change the world. The more influence you have on people the larger you impact on the world. Right now though, start small – with your clients, colleagues and contacts each day. Set out to make each one feel special. Never underestimate the power of making someone smile. It’s these little differences in the beginning that turn into large-scale differences as your business grows.
  • Surround yourself with people on the same mission. Get a mentor who is or has done what you would like to be doing. Learn from their mistakes, follow their successes. This is the only ‘shortcut’ you’ll find on the path to success.
  • Never lose sight of your vision. When times get tough or you get caught up in the small stuff, remember ‘why’ you’re doing what you’re doing and how incredible it will be when you can begin carrying out that larger mission. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your dreams be.
